Professional Biography:
Chargers punter Drew Kaser mishandled the potential game-tying field goal snap in Week 5 against Oakland, and he won't have a chance to do the same in Week 6.Kaser has been stripped of his snap-holding duties, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Backup quarterback Kellen Clemens had an increased numbers of reps holding field goal snaps in practice, so he's the likely candidate to take over Thursday night against the Broncos.MORE: Week 6 Power Rankings"You stay ready for everything," Clemens said, via the Union-Tribune.Clemens has history of holding field goal snaps from his time with the Jets, but that didn't always go well, either. Holders are often overlooked, but it's an important job. Speaking to the New York Times in 2009, former kicker Jay Feely (who also switched mid-season to Clemens) talked about the seriousness of having a good holder.“It’s not easy to switch holders in the middle of the year," Feely said. “A holder can make you miss almost every kick and nobody would be able to tell. It takes a good three weeks to a month to where you’re not really thinking about it."The Chargers hope Clemens won't be the reason they lose this week.
